Our 2012 Audi Q5 2.0T
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:18:17 pm »
We took the plunge and we will take delivery of a 2012 Audi Q5 2.0T Premium in late August.  Black on black with panorama sunroof and bi-xenon headlights as the only options.  Oozes competence and it will even tow 2000 kg.  The 2.0T has serious low-end grunt.

Will post in show-and-shine when we pick it up.

Cool, good choice.  My next door neighbor's in-laws have one in the same color combo.  Great looking vehicle!

Congrats!  Sucks about the wait - that would drive me bonkers.  Seriously nice ride, though.

Yeah, the wait can really suck.  I ordered my 07 G35 in June and never took delivery until December.  Talk about a LONG wait!

Angry Chicken, congrats on the purchase.....they are one sweet lookin' ride!

Congrats on the purchase. I really like these and think I could easily get use to driving one. August will be here before you know it.

Awesome!! Audi's make the nicest looking vehicles, IMO. Their designs are timeless and look great even after 10 years. Suppremely classy designs, too. I definitely envy you here.

Tell me, is the Q5 any bigger than the Tiguan? And what made you pick the Q5 over the new X3, or the Tiguan? And did you seriously consider anything else?

Wow...suddenly there are a whole bunch of replies!  I don't know where to start.  I'll try to answer the questions:

  • Delivery is set for the week of September 19.  Yes, waiting is the hardest part.
  • It's bigger than the Tiguan...think of the Tiguan as about 5/6 the size of the Q5.  The Q5 is based on the A4 whereas the Tiguan is based on the Golf/A3 IIRC
  • The driving part is what sealed the deal for us.  They really are an excellent handling beast despite the "SUV" moniker.
  • It comes with the (removable) roof cross bars and they're the perfect shape for our Yakima/Thule accessories.
  • I wanted the cinnamon brown leather interior, but my wife (the primary driver) wanted black because with the cinnamon brown leather, only the seats are that colour, everything else is black and grey with aluminum accents.  Not everyone's cup of tea.  A lighter beige (and also a grey) is another option.  That option changes door panels, trim and dashboard to complimentary shades of beige/brown.

I couldn't even find an X3 to drive.  The dealerships were taking orders but there wasn't any chance to drive one, so I gave it a pass.  The Tiguan's nice, but just a tad small for our needs which include occasional trips with (older) kids, kaboodle and canine + bikes and stuff.

Ah interesting about the size, I thought the Q5 was Tiguan-sized (Golf, etc.) while the Q7 was Touareg-sized. By looking at pictures, the Q5 certainly doesn't look much bigger than the Tiguan, but looks often are deceiving.

Anyways, awesome purchase. Hope it serves you well for a long time!

 Well, it will be 2 Japanese and 1 German.  Anyway, we won't be picking up the Q5 until September 19 or thereabouts, so you'll have to wait awhile before you ask the mods to ban me.  :bounce:

Then you'll be able to say,  :ttiwwp:

For now, this will just have to do....

Get on the horn to APR ASAP!!   ;D

Their 93 octane tune is good for 40HP and a stunning 74TQ over stock!!  Or just stay 91 and enjoy 35HP and 64TQ.

I'm telling ya...these engine are superb when chipped...

Given that you'd want two programs, stock and chipped while it is under warranty I think it is a bit nearer $CDN800 inc HST unless you go to the US and get it installed at an APR dealer there of course.

But worth every penny at either price imho.   I have been putting it off on the GTI until end of warranty next year.

Does the APR work like the Cobb AP where you can flash back to stock at any point? and store and save any number of maps?
