...with 300+HP/6 sp manual, you could show your tailights to most any of the late 70's - late 80's V8 Camaro's.

Even the most powerful 5.7L cars from that time frame don't come close to the 312hp and six cogs of the current V-6 Camaro.

my ex '78 Z28 had a 185hp (stock) from its 5.7L engine. The torque was still impressive though.

I had a 79, Z28, black, ordered new.  3 speed auto.  Back then it seemed to go pretty good.  Better than the HP numbers indicated.  In true GM fashion, they had the 5.7, even in the Vettes, running thru one cat.  I put a test pipe on it which back then were available anywhere.  Dunno if it did much.  Overall, I have fond memories of the car.  I got the driver's seat "option" that allowed for about a 5 degree tilt on the back rest part of the seat as seat backs did not recline in most cars.  :rofl2:

I thought so. My Dad owned a Case 990 Black Knight like this one except he had dual wheels on the back.

Funny you mention that. I was looking at an 870 Black knight earlier this year with an eye to buying it but couldn't confirm it was really a black knight and not a paint overhaul black knight. If your dad still had it they are worth a solid premium over the none demonstrator tractors.

Dad sold it around 1998 or so when he sold the farm. Actually, it was a 970 not a 990. He did have a 990 but it was a 990 David Brown of Aston Martin Fame. I've likely got some pictures of both somewheres around.
Was like this 1200 only the 50hp version. Off white with chocolate brown drivetrain, red stack. Nice looking tractor.

Yeah, that's it except the stacks were stainless and most came with a ton of weight on the front to keep the nose down. Ours had dual wheels as well loaded with sodium chloride.
