My new Camaro
« on: June 11, 2011, 02:47:24 pm »

The Lancer has been replaced with my new 2011 Camaro. It's the base V6 with the Manual in Victory Red, and while I've already had some ribbing about buying a car that's missing 2 cylinders, more then 300 horses is good for me and with averaging over a 120km's a day I still wanted some economy.

I test drove the Hyundai Genesis coupe, the Mustang V6, and the Camaro. and would have been very happy  with any of them, but had a slight preference for the Camaro's exterior and a bigger preference for the Mustang interior. If price wasn't an object I'd have a Mustang but at the end of the day, the sales guy at the same dealer were I bought my truck had by far the sharpest pencil. I've had her for just over a week and had hoped to get some professional shots but haven't heard back from my preferred photographer, on when he could take some shots, so I'm afraid these are my none artistic efforts.

Very nice!
Still one of the coolest looking cars on the street. And I understand reliability is excellent on them.
I am sure you will enjoy it.

I'd be very interested in trying out a V6 with the 6 speed manual.

I assume you traded the Lancer in?

Which shifted better, the Mustang or your Cam or could you tell?

I just took a look at the base unit and I am SHOCKED at the package.  It's bang on.  :o

Fog lites so no lame empty plastic holes/plates to deal with.

Tilt and tele wheel - a must

Cruise - an absolute must

Power recliners - nice.

XM - nothing worse than having to change a head unit just to add XM

Limited Slip for snow

Standard features include:
312 hp 3.6L VVT SIDI engine
6 speed manual transmission
4-wheel disc brakes with ABS
StabiliTrak® electronic stability control and traction control
18-in. heritage steel wheel
Dual exhaust with polished stainless steel and exhaust tips
Sport suspension
Limited slip differential
Fog lights
Air conditioning
Tilt and telescopic steering column
Remote Keyless Entry
Cruise control
6 airbags
OnStar® with 6 months trial of the Directions & Connections plan with turn-by-turn navigation
Front, cloth sport bucket seats with adjustable head restraints
Front driver seat with 4-way manual adjuster and power recline
passenger 2-way manual with power recline
6-speaker sound system with CD and MP3 playback with auxiliary audio input jack
XM Satellite Radio

Only negative is the limited colour selection.

But, that aside, awesome deal starting @$26K before bickering.

A comparable Mustang is over 30K as far as I could discern from probably the worst car website among the majors..

The Lancer was indeed traded. The car was undoubtedly sent to a wholesaler right away and the chev guys must have had a guy who had a buyer as they were very good on the offer.

There was a few weeks from when I drove the Mustang and the Camaro (the Camaro V6 with the manual seems ridiculously rare and I like shifting myself) so it wasn't a back to back impression but the Camaro shifter and Mustang felt very similiar except for shifting to 3rd couldn't be rushed in the ford, (by that I mean the revs had to be just right) but that may have been that particular car. The clutch in the Camaro has the same effort as my Lancer had  and felt natural right away while on the Mustang it felt heavier and had a lower pick up point. It would have taken a few days to get the feel but was not a huge difference

312hp, six cogger and all that for $26K?  Huh?  Really?  While I prefer the dimensions of the Genesis, that is a lot of RWD bang for the buck.  Damn.  Congrats on a sweet ride.
No place I'd rather be...

That is a recreation of the Case eagle on top of the world. A Marketing thing from the Case tractor company in the 30's and 40's. I'm afraid I  collect Case antique tractors In my spare time, and we ended up with Old Abe the eagle in concrete. Between my dad and I we have, I believe, 15 old Case tractors right now.

Great choice and congrats on the car.  And there's nothing wrong with collecting Case tractors (IH model collector here).
