I've been following the falling price of gas in BC, with Kamloops leading the rush. A couple of weeks ago it was down to $1.07, then it went up a bit and then this week it was down to $1.04.
Costco is the guilty culprit!, with Chevron following close behind.
Now I see it is the Courtenay/Comox area with gas down to $0.989, and again, there's Costco and Chevron. Wow, never thought I'ld see gas below a buck.
This has got to be hard on the independent stations, as they are having to buy their gas for prices that range from $1.15 to $1.22. The stations that are pushing this gas war are the ones owned by the gas companies. The independents either keep their price around the break-even point and only get a few customers, or they drop them and the more gas they sell, the more money they lose. Sucks for them, but great for the consumer.
