I suppose it cant really be helped . Rush hour is rush hour.
But now that its warmer pretty much all major roads in calgary is under construction again and its f-ing frustrating especially with all the retards on the road.

Just now some b1tch in echo told me to back off her car cause shes driving standard wtf?  Im driving standard as well.  And its rush hour. Bumper to bumper everywhere.

If u cant drive stay the f home during rush hour.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Hey while you're sitting in your air conditioned car, I'm sitting outside on a bike wearing a black jacket :)

Did I mention the engine fan is (almost) always on? Now that's fun!

Then again, I choose my poison.

I almost sucked one biker into my hood scoop on Upper-Middle a few weeks ago who was cycling on the pedestrian walk when his light turned red and my advanced green came on. I would have beaten him into hamburger if he had hit me. I'm sure there are bikers who obey the law but I see more that do not.

Agreed.  I was in TO last Friday, and was witness to "lunch rush hour".  Lane splitting at stop lights seemed to be the rule of the road while I was there.  Sometimes 5-6 cyclists at a time doing it.

I find it completely absurd how long it takes to get construction done in Toronto.

Saw a sign yesterday that said Hwy 7 is being lane-expanded between Warden and Woodbine (or maybe Warden and Kennedy, not sure). How long?

October 2014. Yes. Over three years for 2kms worth of lane extension in a relatively wide open space. A literal snails pace.
Everything in life is relative.

Windsor's EC Row, less than 15 kms long took over 15 years to build.  It was supposedly once in the Guinness Book or World Records for longest time to build such a short freeway...

Unless there were real extenuating circumstances (ie: having to build through an active volcano, perhaps) this is nothing but sheer embarrassment. People should be fired for such incompetence. But they're probably still collecting the pension.

No need, I have a bike lane....you know the one that cars find the need to drive, park, stop in when they can't find a sidewalk to use. ;)

Btw, in the first two miles of my commute this morning I had 2 people try to kill me again.

1) Accelerate to pass to slam on the brakes while cutting me off so they could turn right.
2) Blow through stop sign and almost t-bone me while I was trying to turn left.

Of course, nothing like the truck that didn't even slow down while turning right and almost taking out two people crossing the street on the walk signal.

Out on our nightly walk and two cars blow through the flashing cross walk, didn't even try to slow down. Trying to cross on a walk signal guy speeds up so he can turn right in front of us. Yep, those TO drivers are so considerate.

"TO" and "considerate" should never be in the same sentence together... ;D

Weird, the Bayview-Leslie section was done very quick.

I've picked jobs because they don't coincide with rush hour . I hate rush hour and avoid it like the plaque .
Peddling works too , did that for a year 11 km in , beats waiting for the bus .

I picked my hours, I do 6:30am-3pm days to avoid as much traffic as possible here in Ottawa. Takes me around 20 minutes to get to work in the morning and 30-35 to get back home in the afternoon. In the worst of traffic (winter, snow, 4:30pm-ish), it takes me a good 60-75 minutes to get home. I'd kill myself if I had to go through 1h30 or 2h of rush hour traffic every day, twice per day, like some people I know in Montreal. Whenever I'm stuck in traffic here in Ottawa and it takes me twice as long as usual to get home because of snow, accident, construction, etc., I just think of those who live in Montreal (and Toronto, I'm sure) and sure don't feel bad about myself for too long.

Spent 4 days in TO last week for work and it never fails to remind me why I couldn't live there. 7 KM from hotel to office 45 minutes plus. I would at home so my normal commute is 0.

Had meetings about 30 km from the hotel. 1:45 to 2 hours plus.

I don't know how people do it every day without your head exploding. 4 lanes of traffic and collectors all moving at 20 kph.
