I dunno.  The first guy was a nuts but the merge by the second guy (who should probably wear a helmet) seemed ok.

Come to Toronto, they have nothing on us.

Try lane splitting, then going through a red light (without even slowing down) in morning rush hour traffic and making it across without getting hit.

He did a pretty good climb on Albert then the car on Slater to meet him at the same time in front of the hotel.

You did say Ottawa, didn't you. That is a government town which explains a lot.

The drivers there aren't the sharpest tools in the shed either.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Reminds me of downtown Toronto.  I've never seen so many moving violations but one group of people in so little time...

Nice!  I swear some of them around here have a death wish...

Like the one on the county road I was on that decided to do a snap squared-off U-turn.

There were no driveways or roads for him to turn into...he just decided to head back the other way without even looking.

He is lucky I have good reflexes or he would have been cut in half. His rear tire left a black mark on my left engine protection bar. Thats after hard braking, enough to lift the back wheel about a foot while laying a nice faint black line with my front tire (who needs ABS), easing off and turning to the right slightly to clear the bonehead.

I don't carry collision coverage. I wonder who would have paid. A good argument for cyclists to carry mandatory liability insurance.

Yet while doing so and t-boning your pride and joy, they most likely will not pay for your damages.

Not to mention a lot of these chuckleheads aren't wearing helmets...

I doubt that would have helped him. I did turn around and give him (a guy in his 40s) :censor:; I'm sure you could have heard me in the next town. He just had this dazed look on his face...effing inbred!

You could have handled the situation with your track background; not many could. I had 1 second to impact; 2 would be way past him. It was that close. BTW, I was doing 100 and even moved to the center line to give the usual wobbly cyclist plenty of room.

Wasn't even close.  Did not witness a single car violation compared to several bike violations.  Cyclists there appear to have a death wish.  Oh...and the pedestrians also seemed to have little regard for their own safety.

OK, so from what I saw there was a cyclist meandering around stopped cars and and an angry swearing driver who had no reason to be upset other than someone must have peed in his cheerios. This cyclist didn't offensively cut off any moving traffic, didn't knock into anything, and generally stayed out of the way. There are a lot of cyclists who are ignorant, but there are also a lot of drivers who are just struggling with some sort of inner anxiety that comes out as anger towards cyclists. If anything people who choose bikes are improving transit. Cycling takes up less space, improves physical health, lowers emissions....yeah, those jerks!

From what I saw, two people got to the same destination. One burned 100 calories and gained muscle mass and stamina, while enjoying a beautiful sunny day. The other sat at red lights in a covered vehicle and burned 3 litres of gas and got angry. Choose what you want to see, I'd be in the cyclists shoes.

I believe that you didn't see any car violations but I ride my bike every day downtown and trust me there are plenty.

Running red lights
Don't stop at stop signs
Parked illegally
Speeding
Talking on cell phone/texting/reading book
Parked/driving in bike lane
Parked on sidewalk

I see this every day btw.

I guess I was just "lucky" that day.  At least you need to pass a test to get a car license.  Nothing needed to ride a bike, so I suspect some of the lunatics I saw shouldn't be on the road, period.

The day I saw the craziness, it was bumper to bumper.  The most flagrant stuff and by far the most popular was cyclists running reds.

Yea, that works for some.  Certainly wouldn't work for me with my 40km commute (each way) every day.

On the subject of gas...and I mean taxes through gas sales, what are bicycles doing on my roads that my gas tax pays for for...and driving without a plate and insurance?

Are you sure about that? Does gas tax actually pay for all the roads?  And going with your logic, people shouldn't be able to walk either? Or maybe that guy in the wheelchair should just stay home?

I'd love to see how you would make people plate and insure their 5 year old's bike.

I also think cyclist should have insurance.  If they are subject to the laws of the roads, insurance wouldn't be a bad thing for them either.
