Mike's 2010 WRX Limited - 1+ Year Update - Mods Begun
« on: May 16, 2011, 10:06:18 pm »
So I have finally given in to the mod bug and started to do a few things to my car.  I have had the car for a year and a month now and put on roughly 33500KM.  I must say I love this car for more then just its turbo power and awd (which are #1 and #2 on my list).  I also love the practicality of the hatchback, the decent-for-a-265hp-awd-car fuel mileage and the reliability (knock on wood).

Last week I added three new 'mods' to the car.  A simple K&N drop in, rally armor mud flaps all around and a 22mm adjustable rear sway bar.  My biggest issue with the car has always been the understeer when pushing it in any type of condition.  Since I have installed the sway bar Friday, I have had very little time 'testing' it.  But in the little bit I have done, I cannot believe how much it has tightened the car up.  I have it on the 'medium' setting and all ready off gas corners produce minor tail rotation and on gas cornering produces near neutral handling.  I think I want a bit more play and will bump it up to the 'hard' setting in the future.

Below are the pics of the mods that are now added to HID and Magnaflow Exhaust.  A front lip is on order.

Now, get some gold rims and tints already!

Thinking I may be going the sway route shortly. May have to make a Windsor parts pick-up........

Although, if you got a good deal here (including install), please hook a brother up with your contact. I'm thinking of the 22mm front and 20mm rear Whiteline combo.

Did you get links or install this on the stockers?

Wouldn't mind hearing  for of your opinion on the "just rear" link, though.....might be a route I consider.

I have the white line 22mm rear.  I spoke to Robbie and Budd's and he mentioned that since the stock bar is 19mm in the front, if you want some oversteer this is the best route.  I would upgrade the front to 22mm as well if I was to do full suspension.

the links came with the bar and are installed on the stock bushings.  Again, it was recommended to keep the stock bushings until they wear out.  I love it so far.  We should meet up and you could compare them stock to installed.

Tint and speakers all around are future mods....not sure about rims though

Looking good Mike  I'm not ready for suspension mods just yet. I have to decide if I am going to keep it more than 3 years.

I hear ya.  I am about finished with the mods as I need to only do things that can be reversed one day
