(Quick) Shine of the S60
« on: May 09, 2011, 09:57:03 pm »
Since we've had 3 days now of no rain for the first time I think since I brought the S60 home, over the weekend I gave it a good wash and tried out a couple of products.

A few weeks ago, I picked up some Autoglym Rapid Detailer and Stoner Invisible Glass on sale at Crappy Tire.
Both products work very well - the Invisible Glass is the best window cleaner i've used, and the Rapid Detailer worked very nicely as well.  Easy on and off and gives a nice shine.

I think all the Autoglym stuff is on sale at Cdn. Tire again this week.

Couple of pics until I get around to taking some in a nicer location than my driveway...

Thanks all - it does get lots of second glances from people.
I even got a nod this morning from a guy in a previous gen. S60, so I guess i'm in with the 'V' crowd...  :D

Thanks for sharing the pics. Very sharp both inside and outside. I've also read that the 3L turbo inline 6 engine is a real gem. I'm interested in hearing how this one treats you going forward.

Re: (Quick) Shine of the S60 - Six Month Update
« Reply #18 on: September 22, 2011, 12:10:19 pm »
Six months almost to the day i've had the S60 now, and just back from its first scheduled maintenance.
Supposed to be 12,000 km intervals, but it wanted service at just over 9,200 - so in it went today.

First six months have been flawless.  Still really really like the car - the T6 engine is awesome - tons of mid-range, it rockets past pokemons like they are standing still.  Feels WAY more powerful than my old TL,  the S60 is +40 in HP and about +100 in torque... but it still surprises me how much quicker it feels.
I do like the turbo  ;D
Love the interior too, clean & uncluttered and seats are all day comfortable.  Chassis feels very solid, not a squeak or rattle anywhere - I sure couldn't say that about the TL.

Mileage has been consistent since day 1 - around 11-12 city and 8-9 highway.  The avg. always sits around 10.5 - 10.8 with about 65-70% city driving.  Given that there is 300HP /325TQ on tap, I think thats pretty good.  Based on a few fillups where I did some mental math, the computer is accurate.

Only one negative/annoyance with the car.  The Nav system sucks.  It's a PITA to program, have to input address, etc with the rotary dial.. takes forever to program.  Also on a couple of occasions I get a message that it can't navigate to an address i've programmed. Both times the addresses were places that have been there for ages.  If you can get it to accept an address, the guidance works well (tells you what lane to be in,,,etc)
The mapping detail leaves a lot to be desired too.. it shows only a couple of street names, and the ones it chooses to display are usually dinky side streets, not main roads... weird.
My $150 Garmin works way better.  This is my first car with nav, and it will likely be the last.

Other than that minor complaint. i'm still happy with 'er.

Thanks for the 6 month update. Great to hear that you are still liking the S60. The NAV seems to be a bit of a pain but every car has its qwerks.
