New Shoes Ordered for the GTI
« on: May 02, 2011, 01:26:57 pm »
Thanks to some stellar feedback on the forum I have placed an order fo a set of Ventus V12 evo K110  for the GTI. Tire Trends has an amazing sale on the 225 45 17 size I needed . 125.95 a tire was IMO just killer. It was even less expensive than Tire Rack. I did check the local shop down the strret. Their after tax price was over $300 more!

This will be my first set of summer only tires (having used All Seasons and winters before). I'll post some pics hopefully next week

I never would have considered these is not for the mentipons here that got me to investigate these tires further so thanks all.

Just a quick update. The tires showed up just in time to get them mounted before my trip through NB this week. Its been pounding rain for days so this week should be a good test of wet traction.

Initial imperssions:
Wet traction seems excellent. No hydoplaning in 300 km today. Have not cad chance to test them in the corners much yet. Most notable so far is that these things are QUITE..not just for a max performance summer but quiet period. More in line with a grand touring tire. I have recently had Yokahama UHP and General HUP tires and these Evos are hands down quieter, smoother and ride better than either.

I know these are Max Performance tires so quite and smooth ride are not their main purpose but it certainly has been a pleasant surprise.

Your thoughts mirror everything I feel about these tires.  We love them on our IS300, and they are stellar in the wet.  They may give up a teeny bit of dry traction to only the stickiest of summer tires..but I'd trade that for the improved dry traction and quiet nature of these tires.

Nice report. I think I`m on my last summer before replacement so these sounds like a really good contender when it comes time.

I just got the same tires on my 2007 Mazda 6 and so far they seem great! Have not had a chance to ride on them too much yet, probably only about 50 KM, but I noticed how much quieter and smoother they seem over the OE Michelins and my Dunlop performance winters.

Paid just $90/each from www.tirerack.com

That is dirt cheap for those tires.

Made in a Hercules tire factory somewhere ?  ;D

My 225 45 17s were 632 delivered to the door in Nova Scotia.

If you have to buy another size then yes Tire Rack is the way to go.
