My new one is arrived at the dealership land by now. Picture taken with flash late yesterday.

Looks are as they say "in the eye of the beholder". The combination above borders on "grand formaggio" to me. A mismatch akin to wearing the wrong shoes with a suit.

I don't think I'd go as far as saying it looks awful, certainly IMO is it doesn't look great.
But having owned a Forester and experience with Subaru's AWD system and having driven my dad's CRV back when he had one, the systems are night and day.   

Seeing that picture makes me think: "all looks, no action"
Looking all offroad doesn't make you a better offroader.

40k loaded sounds fair.

i also think it's a much better execution of SUV-ifying a car vs the X1 and GLA .  granted, i have not driven X1, but i've driven AMG GLA45...  it's basically a hot hatch, lifted an inch higher than a standard car version...
