Porsche 993 Carrera 4.     Dunno why as I'd never buy a 911 type car or a car that old,

Drove a couple recently.  Was not impressed at all.

Would make a good all weather GT type car though....
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

A fella at an office down the road from me has brought a silver one of these out from hibernation this week... interesting.

With the roads still in horrible shape from this winter, I'm thinking this would be fun today.

Black Audi S5 today...

My dentist has an RS5....

Sweet.  I'd be asking my dentist for a spin in...especially considering that some of cash (and discomfort) would have contributed to his ownership of such a fine vehicle ;)  :)

Same Carrera 4 but maybe a 996 instead of  a 993.  Damn car is like a tune in your head you can't get rid of. ( A meme in an infinite loop)

My boss has one of them. Trust me, you don't want one.

Maybe I'll track down the owner and ask. The knockoff Buick portholes really add to the appeal for me. ;)

Given our history of agreeing on cars, I think I do!  :rofl2:  At ktm said, the difference in price between this and a lexus is enough to pay for a lot of maintenance.

There is a reason 996s are priced low. IMS and RMS issues which if they affect your car, can be quite expensive. Trust me, you need to do all your own wrenching or have deep pockets for one of these. Its not the parts; its the time/labour involved.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A 550 or 575 Maranello....daily!

Italian styling is next to impossible to beat and Ferrari does it so well. Its the stuff under the skin though, that worries me.

So you'd agree with  a 993 then ?

If I were to buy a pre-owned Porsche...  I'd want an AWD coupe so no Cayman, no convertibles here so no Boxster, no track days.  not a turbo..
Maybe a 968 but I think they may be rarer than a 993
I realize I could not afford to keep mending a 928 which would be totally the preferred one.   I would NOT do my own wrenching*** but we DO have a Porsche Indy in Guelph.

I'd ask, why even a Porsche? What draws you to one? I had my reasons for my choice and I looked at some older Ferraris, an Acura NSX and even the last model years of a Lotus Turbo Esprit.

I haven't owned mine long enough to comment, but on the forums I am on, there are many very high mileage daily drivers that the owners do nothing more than lubes and filter changes.

I'd spend some time on those forums and get a feel for costs. My oil changes run me $96 for almost 12 liters of synthetic and two OEM oil filters; and that is me doing the work. At a dealer, try $250+.

Maybe get Blur911's input. BTW, certain parts on a turbo are crazy expensive. My engine bay is hard enough to wrench on due to the cramped confines...imagine a turbo.

I would NOT do my own wrenching*** but we DO have a Porsche Indy in Guelph.

At my age, I'm getting less motivated to wrench, but I have to to make sure the job is done right. I will be getting a lift of some kind in the near future.

The trouble with forums is they give me a reason to procrastinate. I should be in my garage wrenching....nothing wrong with the car, I'm just installing new ignition wires and getting to 4 screws that secure cable hold-downs meant taking the intake plenums off...get my drift now. So while all that is off, the top of the engine is getting cleaned.

As for the NSX, Lotuses or Ferrari  they are too much effort and are not 365 day cars.  One of the things about a Porsche 911 variant is that it can be driven every day.

Anyway... this is just the days obsession.  ;)
