So you'd agree with a 993 then?
I'd ask, why even a Porsche? What draws you to one? I had my reasons for my choice and I looked at some older Ferraris, an Acura NSX and even the last model years of a Lotus Turbo Esprit.
I haven't owned mine long enough to comment, but on the forums I am on, there are many very high mileage daily drivers that the owners do nothing more than lubes and filter changes.
I'd spend some time on those forums and get a feel for costs. My oil changes run me $96 for almost 12 liters of synthetic and two OEM oil filters; and that is me doing the work. At a dealer, try $250+.
Maybe get Blur911's input. BTW, certain parts on a turbo are crazy expensive. My engine bay is hard enough to wrench on due to the cramped confines...imagine a turbo.
I would NOT do my own wrenching*** but we DO have a Porsche Indy in Guelph.
(*** If I had a big garage and room for a hoist maybe some but I am not going to spend any time lying on the floor or kneeling down)
At my age, I'm getting less motivated to wrench, but I have to to make sure the job is done right. I will be getting a lift of some kind in the near future.
The trouble with forums is they give me a reason to procrastinate. I should be in my garage wrenching....nothing wrong with the car, I'm just installing new ignition wires and getting to 4 screws that secure cable hold-downs meant taking the intake plenums off...get my drift now. So while all that is off, the top of the engine is getting cleaned.
