Mini-van tires
« on: April 09, 2011, 10:50:19 am »
Need new all-seasons for the van this  year...  225/60-R17

Anyone recommend something?

Want a long-life all-season that's good in the wet and mild ice/snow (for the shoulder seasons).

Local tire place was thinking Michelin Harmony's..  but never know if they're just pushing the overstock or not..

The Harmony seems to be a popular tire for tire shops to push.  My tire shop recommended the Uniroyal AS65 as a less expensive alternative.

I had Michelin Harmonys on a Toyota Camry. They were good in wet and dry conditions, quiet, long lasting and reasonably priced. I was sufficiently impressed to put them on a GM minivan. There they performed well but wore prematurely. Couldn't figure out why.

The attached Toronto Star "Wheels" item talks about that issue. The author discusses load rating.

Goodyear Tripletred seems suited for your needs.

We have the Hydro-Edges on the Sienna, we are happy with the choice and performance so far.  Now onto their 3rd season.

I wonder if minivans, especially those that see towing and/or carry loads, would benefit from a light duty version of a truck tire (still P-metric)?

Enjoyed our Hydroedge very much on 04 Sienna. Down to 5-32. Members only store recommended Michelin X-Radial  $712 on the road.
