Packages
« on: April 03, 2011, 06:33:21 pm »
As some of you know I'm looking at a 2011 Touareg (among other options) for my next car. One thing I'm finding very frustrating is the "package" way of selling options. In the case of the VW I'd have to take the Sport Pkg ($2520) with 20" wheels and "sport" suspension just to get HID headlights on anything but the top model....pretty pricey Xenons  :(

Nissan is similar on the Murano. To get memory seats and wood trim I have to shell out an extra 4K for LE and get a bunch of other stuff I either really don't care about or flat out don't want (20" wheels).

I know it's been this way for awhile but shopping for a new car this time has driven home just how much of a PITA this is! You're faced with a choice of paying 1,000's for stuff you don't want or settling for a car that's lacking features you would like to have. arrrrrgghh! (end rant)  ;D
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

VW will only sell a handful of Touaregs in Canada. Packages is just the nature of the beast in low volume vehicles. Unless of course it is a Bentley, then it will cost you a bundle.
