Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet not coming to Canada
« on: March 29, 2011, 02:28:11 pm »
Not really sad about this one.

From Autoline

Quote
NO CROSSCABRIOLET FOR CANADA
The Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet is one funky product.  Who would have ever thought an automaker would introduce a drop-top crossover?  Crazy talk.  I’d bet the sales volumes on this thing are going to be tiny given its weird looks and nearly $50,000 starting price.  Limiting its appeal even further, The Globe and Mail says that this open-air two-door WILL NOT be sold in Canada.  Evidently Nissan of the North – my name, not theirs – looked at it and said “no thanks.”  If this is your kind of vehicle, the Murano Crosscabriolet should start showing up at dealerships next month . . . unless you’re in Canada, of course.

I don't know, I kind of like the look. Sort of retro like a modern take on a 30's or 40's touring car.

I was kind of looking forward to how well these do, and who the buyers are. Figured of all the convertibles, this one would be best suited for sale in Canada.

It's very premium priced, so wondering how it takes off in the US. Depending on that, may see it here yet - although I doubt it.

One less ugly car from Nissan.

Every time I look at it, it reminds me of a German car from the WWII. I expect a SS officer to pop up from the back seat.

Had no idea what it looked like. Had to look it up. Kinda reminded me of the PT Cruiser Convertible....

It's actually going to be a 2 door, not a 4 door.  I didn't think it was all that bad looking.

Food for thought: Which one is uglier?

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/01/honda-accord-crosstour-cabriolet-ready-to-take-on-nissans-tople/

Neither. They chose the most complimentary angle of the Crosstour possible - the front quarter. It's still terrible, but all that junk in the trunk is what kills the look. Have you seen a side profile of that thing? It looks like a hippopotamus. That being said the Murano is not much better. I don't get why you wouldn't just get a 3-series or A4 cabrio...
