Now you know! Get your next car Krowned.

I'm in my 12th year with about 203K kms...no rust topside or underside.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Perhaps the OP should re-title this thread to "The "Mazda" Is Starting To Show"...
At least it's not in the shop every other month getting some part replaced.  That means a lot to most people. I think if it was Krowned more it would have been better.

I saw a mazda3 sedan today was ruested through the trunk lid on both sides, at the brake lights and around the fenders!  I hadn't seen one rusted yet and it was horrible.

I plan to keep the rust as a badge of honour ;-)
It's really unfortunate as my 323, 626 and Protege had no rust issues.

^^
Or some of that por15 or rust bullet.

Yeah, exactly. Use those as a base rust killer then paint the whole vehicle with a roller, not a brush. Works surprisingly well if you are careful. On my old truck it was the best thing I did.

Unlike that GM on that other thread, at least its out of the shop and on the road long enough that it can rust.  :rofl2:

Yeah, the most common places where it rusts are:
1. rear wheel well lip (the part in front of the wheel)
2. along the rear fender/bumper - it starts in the part toward the wheel  well
3. trunk lid - around the brake light and the badge

There are few other spots I know of on the doors.

On mine, so far only area #1 is affected after 6 years.

Mazda has certainly developed a reputation for this problem. I have a friend who got rid of an RX-8 that he really liked otherwise because he couldn't stay ahead of the rust on the rear wheel wells
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

I just ranted about our service with Mazda.. but that's another story.

I have a Protege5, similar story, just in the wheel wells and chips on the hood.   I'm leaning towards keeping it another winter and then grinding it down, replacing the holes and painting it tremclad flat black with a roller.   It'll be super sexy lady killer then.   ;)

Just got rid of our 2005 mazda 3 gt. Great car except for the rust. Rusting every where. (A piller, hood latch, around windsheild). Kept our 2002 maxima when we got our 11'edge because it had 30 times less rust than the mazda. I can deal with mech and elect issues but I cannot deal with fixing rust. Once it rusts you can never really fix it. No more mazda for me. ( not for a while ;) anyway)
