2011 Kia Sorento 2.4 AWD - Towing

In the manual it says we do not recommend towing with the 2.4 model.  I'm like it must have some sort of towing capacity.  I've never heard of vehicle saying outright we don't recommended towing. Is this normal?

I think I recall reading that towing is not recommended with the Mazda 5. 

Just because it may not be recommended, doesn't mean it isn't possible.  I saw an Elantra Touring the other day equipped with a trailer hitch.  Behind it in the driveway was a small tent trailer. 

There's a Class III hitch available on the Reese and Hidden Hitch websites for your Sorento.

Perhaps, for a Kiyundai model. Not much beef in those. You don't want the body to fold up on you.

Actually it would surprise you the number of vehicles on the market that the manufacturer does not recommend towing with.

The sorento with the v-6 can pull 3500 lbs & has the same chassis as the 4 cyl.

Not sure what it says in the manual, but since it's part of the the tech. specs the car is designed to tow:
