2003 Matrix XR
« on: March 22, 2011, 08:08:48 pm »
My parents are looking for new tires for their 2003 Toyota Matrix XR with a 205/55R16 size.  Using the Tire Rack's Decision Guide, my parents priorities are Ride/Noise Comfort, then Handling, and lastly Tread life (the tire's age becomes a factor sooner than the tread wearing out).

So far, I've recommended the Yokohama Avid TRZ since I'm quite happy with the set on my car.

Any other suggestions?

*Edit: I should add that snow traction is not a priority as they have a set of winter tires already.

I have 205/55R16 Michelin Primacy MXV4.  They are very quiet on my Bug compared to the OEM Michelins Energy they replaced.

Here's a suggestion - opt for some 205/65R15's with a taller sidewall and more 'cush'. If ride and comfort are the top priorities, that would be my suggestion. I had a set of Dunlop SP sport tires on my car a while back, they were excellent.

I'll mention that to them, but I suspect they're not prepared to buy new rims as well.
