The Echo sounds like it was a great vehicle! Not very stylish but it sounds like it transcended that in other ways.

It was uber-reliable.  Never failed to start.  Cheap to run...40MPG for the lifetime of the car.  Just reliable.  It was rather light too.  Not terribly fun to drive, but not a snooze fest either.  Just sad to see it go because of the extreme functionality and reliability.
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

I bought a 2001 RAV4 last fall for a second vehicle. Didn't think I would like but the price was too hard pass. I have grown to really like it. 2.0L with a 5speed and AWD. We have had a $hit load of snow this year and this unit has been unstoppable.  It is a full time AWD not a slip and grip.
Enjoying the Alberta advantage

I had forgot about the fact that the previous gen. Rav4 had a full time AWD system whereas the current gen is a front-biased slip and grip approach. Was it 2004 that Toyota switched to the 2.4L engine from the 2.0L??

Yes 2004 was the year they switched to the 2.4L. The 2.0L is no rocket but it is geared quite low. I've never had to gear down to climb a hill on the highway.
