Although new paint if it was in the original colour wouldn't bother me too much, as long as it was professionally done.
As long as it was over original paint and not over patches and body filler.
Back then and even much later, those cars had very little rust protection. If driven on sunny summer days only equates to babied, then I would want a babied car.
Based on what I saw, especially in the engine compartment (many non-original items, etc), at $49K...he is dreaming unless he finds a sucker of a customer.
