The rationale is that GM is selling all the Terrain and Equinox models they can build - imagine that? There is something like a 2-week supply in the pipeline, which is nothing in this business. Meanwhile the Captiva is already being built in Mexico for export markets and that plant has some capacity now that the HHR is being discontinued. So it makes sense to drop this into the fleet market and keep Equinox production for the more profitable retail customers. Besides, this is a very nice vehicle. It got good reviews when introduced as a Saturn in 2008 and has very attractive styling.
