i suspect the sportback in NA is going to be replaced by the sedan/coupe. as for when this new design comes? i have seen some reports it will be a 2013 model which could mean early next year or later in the fall of 2012. lets just hope they keep the manual transmission and bring it with the diesel.

Since the current A3 is available with TDI, would it not be fair to think the next-gen would be also?

Unfortunately for me the diesel in the a3 here is auto only. I would love to buy a diesel for my next car once I trade in my a4 avant but right now only vw offers manual with their diesel. I will be very curious to see what Mazda, BMW, Audi and/or VW will be offering in the next year or so.
