Seems to me that they're just hedging by altering pretty much every pedal assembly in every vehicle.  The only way to prevent UA in any car is too weld the driver's door shut, put poison tipped spikes on the driver's seat cushion and remove the engine.  Hell, even then I'm sure some fools could find a way for the car to "drive on its own!"
No place I'd rather be...

Yup.  Even on Nissan's, which have the throttle over ride has had UA claims..in cars that are supposedly impossible for this to occur.

Curious how no UA in Toyota cars with manual and pretty much devoid of any UA in other countries.... ::)

It was the price the NHTSA asked to finally close the book on this:

NHTSA’s chief, David Strickland, said in a statement that the agency reviewed more than 400,000 pages of documents to determine whether the scope of Toyota recalls was sufficient.

“As a result of the agency’s review, NHTSA asked Toyota to recall these additional vehicles, and now that the company has done so, our investigation is closed,” Strickland said.

As GM 4th quarter profits fell below expectations, and continue to descend, Obama Motors took one final kick at it's main rival, Toyota.

"Mat Entrapment"  :rofl2:

GM's fourth quarter net income of $510 million, while a sharp swing from a $3.52 billion loss a year earlier, was less than half the profit GM hit in the two previous quarters and well below the first quarter's $865 million. Higher materials and vehicle-launch costs, lower prices and a shift away from pickups and SUVs and toward lower-margin small cars pinched profits

Not only that, but the Treasury and the Gov't is coming under fire and having to answer questions on why GM doesn't have to pay income tax on their profits.  Though Treasury is saying GM is not receiving any special treatment.. ::)

Uh I think they got to keep all those tax loss things from pre-bankruptcy?

Nope.  The law in the US is, if you declare BK, you lose all of that.  GM, for some magical reason, gets to keep theirs.  Which is why the Treasury is under fire (again) about this.

It didn't say if the Venza was recalled in the video. ???? So maybe he is worrying over nothing. :D
Why would he worry about the recall now? It's not like it's the first time toyota's issues have been in the news.
