Audi/VW have been toying with the output of this very same engine for years, not feeling any need to tune in order to show the numbers that competitors do. Instead they wait until they put out a more expensive model (first the TT, now this). Its a great engine for its size, but really. No wonder they make so much money!
An example for comparison;
2012 2.0 in Golf R: 256 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque
In my (ex) 2006 Audi A4:
APR chip, specs and current price, 241 HP, 291 ft. lbs. torque (93 octane), or 232hp / 273lb-ft (91 octane) Around $ 600-/700- ($ 599.00 US).
It ran smooth, why is this new Golf R engine considered to be anything special?
