I now have a MK2 Prius
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:15:40 pm »
Well I now have a new car. I pick it up today 94,000 on the clock.  It's in really nice shape. It doesn't have a key. which I thought was weird. Just a fob which you shove in a slot and press a start button with your foot on the brake. The hand brake is a push button too. You have to press power to turn off the car to get the key out too. It also beeps loudly when reverse. It's got climate control and It has a digital dash. The stereo is weird too. You select what you like to seek out from a list of slim choices. like pop and automatically finds a random pop station. Which doesn't work that well.  4 major idiot buttons on the center console. Which control basic cars needs. The steering wheel has the button for the stereo, climate control, de-froster and underneath a rather crude looking cruse control. When you stop the engine switches off and when you drive away. The electric motor engages and then engine starts it's all seamless. It handles decent. The seats are very firm and supportive. Lovely in fact. It only sip 20 bucks worth of fuel from Ottawa. Also the boot has no key either when you switch off the car the boot is open.

The radio functions like a normal radio.  The feature you list searches for genres of music.  And there should be a key inside the FOB to unlock the doors in case of a dead battery.

Congrats on the new car.

Congrats! IIRC the battery is warrantied up to 160k so if it drives nicely now you should have years of making trees grow around  wherever the car goes.  ;)

They do look better in person. They are not photogenic.

I been really enjoy this car today. It's almost limousine size in the back. I think it was great deal for 8 grand. I keep scratching my head thinking why is it so cheap. Thats what I like about private sales you get some real bargains..I did the e-tested and safety today. Flew though. Not one thing wrong. I found the manuals in the center console. I got 4 nice alloys attach to all seasons for summer driving ( i put them on in the next few days) The glove box is the same as an Echo. It was jam full of kitchen towels. It's got cleaning products everywhere. I found windolene polish, All kinds things. There are cubby holes everywhere filled with cloths. One is just above the interior mirror. Which auto dims. One below the CD...I'm sure I'll find more..Even the door clucks and sound like an expensive car.

Nice!  WHen I was in Berlin last summer, the taxi I took from Tegel airport to my hotel was a Prius III.  The driver had owned it for 6 months at that point and loved it.  It was very roomy in the back seat.
