Dakota Club Cab car seat
« on: February 13, 2011, 06:41:04 pm »
Off hand, anyone know if a car seat will fit sensibly in the back of a Dakota (97-04) club cab?  Wouldn't be for daily use, just time to time..

As long as the Club cab is the full 4 door version, I don't see why not.  But, anything pre 2002 model year will not have the LATCH connectors for the car seat.

I ran a Peg Perregio infant bucket seat and then a rear facing Graco (model?) in my 97 Club Cab. At 6'2" I could adjust my seat with no interference with the center mounted child seat. The center rear has a lap belt. Not so good for a real passenger but excellent for securing a child seat. The belt does the job just as good as the LATCH. With the Graco seats what most people don't realize is that once the seat is mounted forward facing the adjustable base can be removed. This improves the fit in many smaller and Euro cars. With the seat in this configuration it actually took up less room than the highly touted Sunshine Radian..

FWIW I ended up with a Quad Cab Dakota because it is just so much easier in terms of access. The rear doors open 90 degrees which was awesome.

Comfort is most important thing. It is nice modification.
