2012 VW Tiguan
« on: February 03, 2011, 02:02:37 pm »
Supposdly VW posted pictures of the mildly refreshed Tiguan on thier website today for a little while before taking it down.  I think it may of been intentional.  Either way, it looks more Mercedes GLK in this shots to me.  Thoughts?

Looks just like a grille change

Hard to tell if thats a crease line along the middle of passenger door or just a reflection of white line on ground

I think it is a crease.  LED's in headlights are different, no?

Like so many other VW products, looks good - but too many average or below average ratings for me to be interested:

In 5-10 years when VW addresses their reliability and dreadful customer service I might consider a VW product again - until then, WAKE UP SUBARU, if you improve your interior fit/finish/quality you'll be fending off the former VW buyers in your showrooms.

If you don't like their customer service find another dealership.

If you don't like their customer service find another dealership.

This is not meant as an insult vdk, but people outside of TO seldom think of this; there is only 1 VW dealer in my town and the closest other one is a 7hr drive away.  Therefore, it isn't as easy as 'find another dealership' as you suggest.  If I were to buy a VW, I'm stuck with the one dealer in town and I do not appreciate how they do business.  From owning a VW product (Jetta) for 5 years, I KNOW that the product will go into the dealer for something sometime or another (other than normal servicing) so I have to deal with the local dealer - which I choose not to do.

If I could only get VW interior fit/finish/ergonomics in a Subaru WRX motor/AWD/reliability package - I'd buy that product in a heartbeat.  Closest thing I've ever seen is an A3 Quattro and unfortunately I'm not in the $50,000.00 price range at this time.

I didn't see it as an insult, no worries.

You have a point though, when you have only one choice there's not much you can do - I doubt filing complains with VW Canada would help much.

I very much like this facelfited Tiguan.
I just (again) sat and looked around the current one last weekend at the dealership and it's easy to like how it's built, the fit and finish, materials and the attention to details.

Looks nearly as imposing as a Touraeg. I likes. But I hope VW's exteriors don't start to lose their "happy" vibe.
Everything in life is relative.

It took me ... 3 or 4 days of looking at the new photos before I went from neutral to liking it. I always liked the design of the pre-refresh Tiguan as I though it was a very tightly put together package. This... has more presence I think and on the road the LED's will look impressive.

It looks good but for me the Tiguan is missing that it factor, as such I don't see myself owning one.

Interesting... I know fans of one VW product usually are fans of some of their other products and in my head I had classified the Golf and the Tiguan as being some of VW's still top quality cars that hadn't been priced down and decontended of the little good things. But it doesn't have that undefinable quality for you? I know it's hard to put a finger on that sometimes.

I like the way it's put together, it's a high quality car, but I find it's very truck-like. From the gear shifter to the way the centre console is integrated, and the air vents.

Not apples to apples but the X3 was a little better in that regard - then again it rode like this:

I totally understand now. They do tend to bring some truck like styling to many of the CUV's... it's all in the styling and marketing of some of the vehicles like this. My fathers CR-V is similar.
