Long term test: 2010 Acura ZDX, Part Five
« on: February 01, 2011, 03:03:12 am »

With MDX underpinnings and a sports-car profile, the Acura ZDX is 'quite entertaining to drive' with a 'strong' engine and 'flat' cornering, but its sloping roof and high step-in height present some ongoing ergonomic issues, says Chris Chase.

The ZDX is a non-sense ..... dont know why Honda will design and sell something like this.

There is a 2010 ZDX manager demo at north shore acura, the MSRP was 61995, and is now discounted to 45000 ..... $17000 discount on an Acura .......

I have not seen ONE ZDX been driven in Burnaby ...... , there may be a couple in Vancouver and Richmond .... probably less than 10 in the entire lower mainland BC.

SHAME ON YOU HONDA CANADA.

Bring us the TYPE R CIVIC, TSX Wagon with Diesel and 6 speed manual and sell them all at MSRP!!!!!!

I'd forgotten this test was happening. Do they still make these?

Who cares for this long term test? What a waste of time and money to develop this useless thing.

I add my voice to that of another commenter: Shame on Honda Canada for bringing this terrible eye sour here, but not bringing over the TSX wagon. Honda Canada's executives (apparently people who can't tolerate anything that is sporty and useful at the same time) should reconsider their strange decisions.

to Honda/Acura Canada: Bring over the TSX Wagon instead of this thing! You may think that just because you hate your fathers' 1960 wagons, that everybody else does so too. Well, younger people hate your CUVs. We want wagons, now!

This really is a great looking vehicle.  High on the practicality scale too - well done Honda, nice to see they are now making some truly top notch stuff.

Ah $hit, it's February 1st, not April 1st.   Nevermind.   ;D

I've never actually seen a ZDX on the road but I did see a Crosstour the other day. Of course it was on dealer row just down the street from the Honda store so it may have just been a demo rather than a "real" sighting.

Nice Honda Aztek.  Just like the BMW Aztek.  Gotta give Pontiac credit for starting a platform in which people will pay a premium for.

Re: the TSX wagon - I'm pretty sure it is coming. It was at the Detroit auto show, and I can't see it not coming to Canada if it's being sold in the U.S.

Message from Honda:

Based on current market conditions in Canada, Acura Canada has reviewed its
TSX Sport Wagon launch strategy and decided to delay the Canadian
introduction of the Sport Wagon until further notice.  Acura Canada will
continue to review the Canadian market on an ongoing basis and will
reassess the launch timing in the future.

To be fair to the Aztek, it sure was ugly, but at least had more utility than this.

Given the fact that just about nobody is buying these things (orseems to have any interest in them)  you have to wonder why Canadian Driver would do a long term test on these. Other than providing a venue for people to make fun of the vehicle it seems kind of pointless.

So, does CD decide they'd like to do a longterm text on a specific vehicle and then approach the manufacturer or is it more a case of they get offered a car and say "hey, what the heck,it's a free ride for a year" ?

"you have to wonder why Canadian Driver would do a long term test on these"

It would have been pretty easy to find one that wasn't being used!

Yep, I'm sure Acura Canada has a pretty good supply of these things just hanging around. ;D

Ha! Apparently, I didn't get that e-mail. The latest in a series of questionable choices by Honda?

Agreed, did you see their January sales? Dismal! Hyundai, Nissan and Mazda all sold more cars than Honda!!!! Kia was close!

I think this is the first car review I have seen on here where not one person has come along to defend the vehicle.

No wonder Honda's sales are going down. Honda is fading into the background. They need to go back to their sporty, innovative roots before becoming a third-rate car company, behind Kia.

A friend of mine has a ZDX, swapped an A4 for it. That would be the only ZDX I've seen so far on the road. Seen more X6 on the road tho.

The TSX wagon is too expensive to be a good seller, like 1 per month.
