Wow, where to start!
Has she seen anything that she likes yet?

If I understand the question and she wants a model that just recently hit the market, then I can think of Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. VW Tiguan is fairly new too, but would cost a little more.
If it doesn't need to be an all-new redesign, than a Rav4 is always a great Canadian choice  ;)

thanks, I just find out Nissan Juke too

Rav4 is out of her list because of the spare tire at the back and the door opens side-way

If it has to be new on the market, Mitsubishi RVR is another one.

Tell her to hit an auto mall and walk the lots
Or wait for an auto show and check out the CUVs

Autoshow is a great idea.

I drove every compact SUV/CUV out there and my finalists were the Forester and the RAV4

Drove a Kia Sportage recently. Base model is just under $22K and they are optioned very very well. Good stereo with BT, sat radio, heated seats, trac/stab control, etc.
