That was my point when I replied to this post.

Yes, I noticed your reply.

I don't really have an SUV; the Honda CR-V is not categorized as one.

But if I were to buy any "box" again, they would have to put a diesel engine in it to lower the liters/100 kms. You know the price of gas isn't an issue when these things are still selling. I like the practicality and reliability of my CR-V, but dislike the engine revs at cruise and the efficiency.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Zip....everything here is closed for the Easter weekend.

Besides ,I've pretty much already looked at everything here that might be a candidate. The Touareg is still my favourite but inventory is almost non existant. If I'm going to have to order and wait 'til mid/late summer I might as well wait a couple of months more for a '12. Also, while I like the Touareg I'm still not sure about the pricing structure or the reliability issue. I hate the feeing of not getting "good value". If they were price competitive with the Lexus RX350 I'd probably have a deposit down already and pony up for a VW extended warranty.

A co-worker has a Touareg ('04) and it is an absolute dog. When it is running right he loves it, but it is always in the shop racking up ridiculous repair bills and is an utter gas hog. The dealer basically told him they cannot fix it any more because they cannot guarantee the repairs will last. Of course with a new one and an extended warranty you will not have those problems except for the inconvenience but the fuel costs will only get worse.

I might be tempted to wait a bit and buy a Tahoe Denali at model year clearance time - the GM dealer here told me they feel it is the best thing GM makes.

Maybe I'll just keep my money for now and splurge on a super-duper detailing from CanuckG35 for the SRX. ;D

edit

I may as well be honest. If I'm spending that kind of money I really would like some Lexus Service Dept-type ass kissing from whatever dealership I end up with  ;D

It would be my pleasure.   :)

Pull a 2010 4 Runner Limited NAV out of the USA.

Warranty is good here.  They don't break.  Resale is awesome.

I testdrove a 08 4 Runner when I was shopping last time.  As far as I recall I found it a bit on the "trucky" side but I may well go back to Toyota and have a look. Are the 11's the same as a 10?

Yes.  The newest version is quite superior to the 08.  Additionally, the Limited is different altogether than the other models.  However, I'd still be pulling a slightly used unit out of the USA because the prices are substantial lower.

Other than the homely looks the 4Runner is an interesting option. I hate the 20" wheels on the limited. Tall and skinny tires just don't look right. The 18" wheels  on the SR5 which have  265 vs the Limiteds 245 tires look much better. IMHO

There is certainly a difference between interior space on the X3 vs the new X1. I can see your comments if it was the X1 you were referring to - I cannot understand the comments if it's the X3. It is not "quite small inside", nor is the seat mounted "low to the floor" - IMO of course. In fact, I think the new X3 feels about like the 1st gen X5 inside (which it should given the exterior dimensions are about the same). The X3 would not work for a family of 5 or 6 clearly, but neither would a GLX, RDX, Q5 etc which the X3 is usually compared to.

I drove both the 28i and the 35i quite a bit before ordering, I didn't just "sit in them". That doesn't make me an expert but it is a better test than just sitting in them. I also have driven the GLX, the RDX and the Q5.

True, but just "sitting in them" does drive home that dimensionally they are not similar to the other vehicles sailor was comparing, especially when he has already dismissed a few competitors because of size. It's a long way to drive to determine that yourself. However, many have compared size to the original X5 and I'll be sure to get reaquiainted with the new X3 before commenting further.

Ovr, finally compared the 3 BMW SAVs side-by-side and indeed my impressions of cramped interior were of the X1. Unless buying a base model and of smaller stature where smaller may feel more comfortable, cannot see why you'd select one over the new X3 which is only marginally more money and significantly improved over the previous model. Unfortunately the driver's seat wasn't powered so I couldn't judge by how much the centre console intrudes on the right knee, but otherwise its interior dimensions, design, and quality were just right to me - which I couldn't say for the last one. Still compact enough, but roomy where you need it and decent deep cargo area. It's beautifully redone, and am sure you're en'joy'ing yours. Love the red paint, by the way.

Sailor, still holding out to see what arrives for 2012MY or getting a little anxious now? Any new potentials you looked at or are on the list?

I'm still torn by indecision 9and trying to get everything working on the SRX before I put it up for sale)

As I posted elsewhere here the Jeep GC and the Touareg both would seem to be out of the running due to either lack of supply and/or lousy deals being offered by the local dealers.

Actually thinking about a CPO'd 2010 RX350 Touring now.

Don't get something unless you really, really want it.   You don't sound that excited.  Don't do it if your gut says no.

I know what you mean. I haven't come across anything that really excites me that's in my price range. However,I really do want to get rid of the SRX......hence the "CPO" idea. At least that way the hit won't be as bad if I decide to get rid of it in a year or so.

I was in Moncton today so I went and had a look at an Audi Q5. As I expected, they seem just a touch small for my needs.

Congrats!! After going through all that crap with the SRX, I hope for your sake that you picked something with a better track record in regards to reliability...  ;)
