What to get
« on: January 18, 2011, 04:33:35 pm »
It takes me forever to decide on the next vehicle to get so I've started thinking about a replacement for my 08TL when the lease comes due.  (May 2012).  Yep I'm looking already.

I have no idea what to get as a replacement.  The current generation Acura designs are BUTT UGLY (no offense if anyone here has one).  The only one'd I'd consider is the TSX and RDX but I'm leaning more towards 'No'.  So that means venturing to non Honda territory for the first time in 9 years (once lease is up).  So... here's the criteria and likes.

- I loved seeing the smaller premium brands that are available in Europe but not here.  I'm hoping to get something a little smaller.  I don't want to sacrifice luxury or technology for fuel economy and size.

- Should be 4 doors BUT not closed to a coupe so long as the backseat has enough room for 2 adults to sit comfortably.

- Price wise... no more than 40K and even that's pushing it.  I'm happy with my current lease payments being $529 a month all in.

- Can not be BMW or Mercedes.

- Navigation system is a must.

- Not too boring looking.  I like the design of the new Hyundai Sonata but am weary about buying Hyundai.
- A small crossover?

Happy suggesting!

Surely you can't still be concerned about Hyundai's reliability? That's a little like expecting Mercedes to be bullet proof because they built such great cars in the 80's
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

Do yourself a huge financial favour and don't even think about a two door. If I was using you to tour for a new house the two door would not be a deal breaker - but an agent one. That to me would be too inconsiderate.

There is no way in Halifax that I would want to go in to the back seat. No way. Ever, never and shotgun doesn't count.

An agent is there, again for me, to show me around to the listings he/she has found and I want to be a little pampered, to be made to feel a little important. A two door - well I have already said that.

Over on the Toyota side you should really take a look at the Avalon - it can be had for a little under $40 but leasing is higher right now. Maybe next year better rates. Maxima is good and Audi and so would MKS Lincoln or is it the MKZ - always get them confused - the Fusion version...

Lots to entertain you - in a FOUR DOOR! ;D

For $40k OTD, the Passat CC would get my vote.

Fusion Hybrid?

Lexus HS250?

Luxury hybrid would be perfect for real estate

I assume he wants a touch of sport.  The HS250 will dull you to sleep.

I'd get an STi and take the clients for a RIDE!!!  Nothing beats hoonage from house to house...

 ;D

How much is the G37 sedan?  The AWD version is pretty sweet and gets around pretty well in the snow.
No place I'd rather be...

Yea, that's why I was inquiring about getting a CPO car.  Lots to choose from then!  Lexus IS350, G37, Legacy GT, Cadillac CTS, etc

Great car but I'd say he'd be well north of 40k

Yep, if he could find a year old lease return with under 20,000 kms (apt to be a US car) it could be a perfect fit.

Make sure it's a G37S with a manual. You're an enthusiast right? ;)

No-one has mentioned it yet but from what I've heard there should be a new Ford Fusion and Lincoln "something" coming up in about a year or maybe year and a halfs time. The Lincoln is said to have it's own sheet metal and it may bring over some of the really interesting high trim components of the Ford Mondeo in Europe. Even the next gen Fusion may be quite something.

Or what about the current gen Maxima. The current iteration strikes me as being a bit like the older TL in some respects.
