Your loss Kia (in the USA at least).  Ford has just brought out a (better) vehicle to pick up where the Rondo left off....even looks a bit similar.  I think a 2nd gen Rondo would have been a great competitor for this vehicle, but with it being killed off, the Orlando not making it to the USA....Ford is going to reap the benefits.

In Canada where all 3 are supposedly going to be on sale, it will be much more interesting.

great way to kill a vehicle before its been launched - the C-Max will only be available as an hybrid, no gas engine - what is Ford thinking!

I hope this is a joke  ???

What on earth? That makes no sense... If they bring this as a 2.5L and 1.6L Ecoboost as planned plus these two models it'll be a huge car. At least in Canada where you see Mazda5s everywhere.

There goes my hope we'd get the manual + diesel option.  Granted I didn't have much hope, but still.

The lack of 7 seats is going hurt Ford, at least in Canada.  If they can keep it competitively priced with the Mazda5 (I doubt it) then they it will do well for them.   I suspect they're going to charge a premium for it (and could be why they're only offering Hybrids) it will be a tough sell.   But what do they care?  California will buy more of them than all of Canada.

If C-Max really seats 7 then how would they sell the Flex ?

They are dramatically different size vehicles, can't see them competing anyway.  That's like saying a 7-seater Sorento competes against the 7-seater Rondo - both 7 seaters but drastically different vehicles and they have no problem selling either model.

Dramatic change in marketing indeed. Just last week I was looking at the C-Max in the Future Vehicles section of ford.ca. Now it's gone.

What a shame the 7 passenger is not making it at this time. It is a very impressive vehicle and for sure Canadian consumers
would have appreciated it.
Just read that Ford had to boost production  at its Valencia plant which assembles the 7 and 5 seater C-Max to keep up with demand in European markets. http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=34758

Which I think is a big reason why Ford N.A. has decided not to launch it at this time. As Valencia Assembly was the designated plant to
build the North American spec 7 passenger C-Max for export and now Valencia can hardly keep pace with demand for Europe. And if sales were strong, then Ford was going to move North American production to its Louisville Assembly Plant at a future date. With the vehicle already set to meet the different North American regulations, it will not surprise me to see the 7 passenger re-launched at a later date.

I cannot see Ford wasting all that investment for the certification etc to get the C-Max ready for North America, plus on-line suppliers, the re-tooling they have done a Louisville Assembly etc. If gas prices keep rising, this will almost force Ford to include this size of vehicle in its North America line up be it next year or the year after.
Louisville is being re-tooled to be Fords most flexible assembly plant, able to build up to 6 different vehicles. First vehicle being assembled there will be the next Escape/Kuga , and then the 7 passenger C-Max was next in the pipe line. At least Ford can act quickly if market demand for this vehicle looks good.

Still good that they are continuing with the 5 seat C-Max and setting up a dedicated body style for their Hybrid & Plug in Hybrid. It is very good car to drive, almost as fun as the new Focus.

Now that I've had time to think about it... perhaps the sales numbers suggest that people are into the MPV hybrid thing and that Ford wanted to challenge the Prius V directly. From the sounds of it the C-Max would be a very good challenger. I guess the next big thing is price... but perhaps this is a good move after all.

Very well timed addition to the lineup, especially the Energi plug-in. Hopefully it will have a similar to Volt's electric range. I doubt though that the Prius V can be beat, even with a similar Atkinson cycle engine. The V was designed with fuel efficiency being the top priority and likely has better aerodynamics.
