All paint wears and dulls over time. My Scooby's door handle (driver) inside area is worn out. My hands have literally rubbed the silver away, revealing the plastic on the handle. Paint will chip near edges. You have to be really careful when you wash your car. Don't use a high pressure spray. Gently clean it. Do not for one moment think you can use any kind of abrasive such as "Color-cut" to bring up the color. It will only create discoloration and swirls if you're not careful. Some times the only way to get a great paint job is to spend $5K and get it done right.

Dulls and oxidizes over time yes, wears......not so much.  I am not sure what "Color-cut" is that you mention, but I can guarantee that other professional abrasive polishes will not create discoloration.  Any abrasive product can create swirls, spider webbing, marring, etc if you do not know how to use/apply the product properly.  The vast majority of the time, you do not need a new paint job to bring back your paint to a show room finish.  Most times, all you need is a professional detail.  :)

And let me guess, you think GM's paint finish is far superior, right?

GM's paint, with the exception of the Corvette is industry standard in terms of durability.....no better, no worse.

All paint will chip on the front and clear coat will swirl and dull... that's why they invented front deflectors/bra/3M clear bra and clay bars/polish/wax.

And you two obviously still swallow the mythical swill that Toyota makes a quality product head and shoulders above everyone else's.

So let's stop insulting each other and move along, shall we? Otherwise, I can do this all week.

And how exactly did you come to that conclusion??  I've already pointed out earlier in this thread in response to hondroid's paint thickness numbers that their paint is nothing more than average.   ???   You must of missed that one eh?

I reached the conclusion on the same basis that you and your mascot reached the conclusion that I held certain opinions about the quality of GM's paint -- even though you two were the only ones in the thread to bring up GM. At least we were originally talking about Toyota before you came along with your typical ad hominems. What is your problem? Are you always this obnoxious? You demonstrate all the charm of a schoolyard bully. Get some help.

LOL, what?  My response to your post was based on you commenting that I think Toyota's product is far and above everyone else's.......which I indicated at the first of this thread that I don't think that is the case at all.  Good grief.   :rofl2:
