2011 Dodge Journey

I'd say this is just a wee bit nicer.

Wow that old interior is hideous! The new one is much better but let's hope they use better quality materials.

I don't know...... JK.

What an improvement. Apparently it rides better too and it gets the new Pentastar V6 which is a very capable engine.

I always liked the exterior styling. No saying its great, but not ugly either. Seems to offer good outward vision compared to other CUVs with swept up styling at the rear pillers.

But, I just loath the interior of the 2010 and older models. This interior looks much better, lets hope the quality is there to match the look. But from what I have read, this issue may have been addressed, but would like to see one in person. Where I live in BC, the dealers are still trying to flog the 2010's with discounted pricing, so the 2011 are not even in the showrooms.  Come on Chrysler, I can go into other manufactures showrooms and look at 2011's, not 2010's.

I rather liked the Journey except for that awful interior. The dash on the new one looks very good, more like a previous gen Acura TSX with the silver decorative trim.

They already sell tonnes of these, so if the pricing continues reasonable they will really roll.

Isn't the best selling CUV in Canada? I read that somewhere but can't seem remember where. ???

With the new interior, I think I'd actually buy one of these. I hope the materials are up to par with the looks.

My previous experiences with Mopar ('98 and '00 Neons) were good, believe it or not. Both vehicles were totally trouble free, and I had the '00 for 8 years and 90,000 + kms.

By what definition?  All three have a unibody construction, a transversely-mounted engine, and FWD-based AWD.  None are "SUVs" in the XTerra and (pre-2011) Explorer sense, with body-on-frame construction, longitudinal engine mounting, and truck-style 4x4 system.

I went to the Canadian Dodge website, and looked at the different trim levels and option packages.

Got to say, one seems to get a good deal of standard equipment once you get to the SXT model and above. Dual AC,Standard cloth heated seats, thats a bonus. However to get AWD, you have to up to the RT, and this comes with standard heated leather seats.

The thing that I like the most is that I don't have to have a third seat if I don't want one. It seems other manufacturers make you take the third seat on the top line models. That has been a negative for me. I don't need the extra seating, so would just be added weight. Thanks Dodge for giving me a choice.

The Journey will be on my must look list the next time I am at the local Dodge dealer. Will wait till some time next year before deciding to buy though. I want to see what kind of feedback is available so I can judge how happy people are with it, and what kine of incentives may be had.

Much better.  he original instument panel looks like it came out of an '84 Dodge Omni, or the original Magic Wagon.  With the new interior, the Journey would actually be on my shopping list right now, if I were looking.

Agreed. And besides, the Journey is much more of a minivan than a CUV/SUV, at least in appearance.

I really fail to see how the Journey is any bit less CUV and more minivan like than any other CUV on the road.

I really fail to see how the Journey is any bit less CUV and more minivan like than any other CUV on the road.

1) It replaces the Dodge Caravan (the SWB version of the Grand Caravan)
2) Just like the Traverse, I think it looks more like a minivan than a traditional CUV/SUV. Has nothing to do with the powertrain, equipment, etc... it's just by its look. I think it's because of the length, it looks elongated, just like a minivan. That's just my opinion, of course.

EDIT: And of course, when I say it's more a minivan than a CUV/SUV, it's not meant as a slight or whatever. I like minivans and they have their place on the market, heck, I'll probably buy one in a few years as our family grows. It's just that, to me, people that buy something like a Journey because they don't want to be seen in a minivan are just fooling themselves... it is a minivan minus the sliding doors.

I think it looks just like a CUV--Pilot, Traverse, Highlander, etc.  It doesn't look any more minivan-esque than any of those in my opinion.  So if you're drawing a distinction between CUVs and minivans, I'd put the Journey squarely in the CUV basket.
