LOL... ALL manufacturers are selling diesels in other markets not only the Japanese (Americans, Germans, Koreans) .... ALL of them.
What's the news here?

Few are selling diesels though. If a diesel is all you want, why not buy a VW? They have diesel hatch, wagon, sedan, small and big. A diesel for eveyone.

Why are people outraged by one manufacturer or another?

VW does not have a CUV diesel.  ... and their diesel has substantially less torque than a sky-d engine.

The outrage is Mazda is releasing a new vehicle with all new technology, but... they are gonna hold out on the best tech until the mid-cycle refresh... if ever.  Stupid marketing.

If Mazda or any other mfgr could make a business case and make money in North America with diesels, I'm sure they would bring them here. BMW, MB can afford to charge more money for diesels, but when you are a small mainstream player facing increasing price preasure and close competition from the gas engines which are almost just as fuel efficient, why bother?

Just curious, does anyone know how many Golf TDI versus Golf gas VW sells in Norh America?

When did they confirm that the CX-5 was not receiving the Sky-D engine in Canada (but did confirm it for the US?). I thought they were still evaluating when they would launch in North America. I kind of thought that they might go with a dual diesel release with the new Mazda6 and CX-5 both getting the Sky-D at the same time.

Below is the response I received from Mazda Canada

Quote
Thank you for taking the time to write to Mazda Canada Inc.
The SKYACTIVE G CX-5 will be availabe in early 2012.  A SKYACTIVE D version will not be released for 2012 and unfortunately we cannot confirm its availability in 2013.

Who here thinks Mazda will release a twin-turbo diesel engine on the CX5 and Mazda6 really? That thing will be expensive, and no one will buy it. A single-turbo diesel is expensive enough, and doesn't sell remarkably well, the idea of a twin turbo diesel in a non-luxury car is naive at best.

I'd buy one.

I'm currently looking at (and test drove) the RR Evoque and Q5 3.2L.  Also the KIA Sportage SX is on the list.  VW Tiguan is off the list because of poor VW reliability, low output turbo 2.0L and lack of diesel option.

So a Tiguan is off the list because of poor reliability, yet a Range Rover is not?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Too funny.... :rofl2:  :rofl2:

Last time I checked, Land Rover is at the very bottom of the reliability list...yes...even worse then VW.

Ya might have missed the other reasons.  I know what to expect as far as reliability and RR goes.

Kia Sportage---how are they for reliablity?  I know Hyundai and Kia haved moved up a lot in the game but they are still bottom of asian manufactures however, this is still above the germans and domestics.
