Canada's WORST-selling cars
« on: December 02, 2010, 03:26:35 pm »
10.  Nissan Armada (329)
9.  Mitsubishi Galant (325)
8.  Mitsubishi Endeavor (323)
7.  Kia Borrego (271)
6.  Volvo V50 (230)
5.  Lexus GS (215)
4.  Cadillac DTS (197)
3.  Suzuki Equator (152) (typo edited thanks to carcrazy)
2.  Cadillac STS (40)
1.  Acura RL (33)

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/02/what-are-canadas-10-worst-selling-cars-and-trucks-glad-you-ask/

The two that surprised me are the Volvo V50 (a charming little wagon...I thought Canadians loved that sort of thing?) and the Lexus GS (totally out of left field there...I assumed it was doing quite well, even though I doubted it was leading the segment in sales).

No.3 I think it's Suzuki Equator (not Mitsubishi).

I think Canadians like (cheap) hatches in particular not (expensive) wagons. The only other wagon I can think of is the Elantra Touring, which didn't set the world on fire sales-wise in Canada either.

The V50 is overpriced, no doubt (like all modern Volvos, it seems).  But everyone on this forum seems to think that wagons are the bees knees, so I assumed most Canadians love wagons at least as much as hatches.

I don't think people on this forum (or any forum for that matter) are representative for the majority of the buying public.

For sure were I in buying mode, none of those would be considered at all.

Hey, I did my part and bought a 6MT Wagon  ;D  Now if only it had 4MOTION. And had more ground clearance. And was a Tiguan. And...

At least in the US, the RL Technology Package costs $8,000 more than the TL SH-AWD technology package, and it offers...um...hm...memory settings for the power steering wheel adjust, noise cancellation for the sound system, ventilated seats, and two more cupholders.  Otherwise they've got essentially the same amenities, essentially the same drivetrain, and essentially the same dimensions.

TL SH-AWD renders RL obsolete.

Caddy CTS is SO good, why spend more?

V50 is too expensive.
No place I'd rather be...

Equinox makes perfect sense.  It's a Frontier in disguise, is more expensive and works off a puny dealer network.  I actually like the Grand Vitara, but at $33,000 for the V6, there are better buys out there.

My prediction for lowest selling SUV in 2011 is the Grand Vitara.  They have dropped the V6 option and haven't discounted the vehicle at all...

Have to agree 100%. Same could almost be said about the Mazda Tribute and B4000. Ford has a much bigger dealer network.

In fairness, the Borrego went on Hiatus in 2010 (in the US at least, I think Canada too) and the DTS and STS are both stripped down to one trim awaiting execution......both live into 2011 though

Jeep Commander must be in the next 10.  I don't think it's a terrible SUV, but I never see them anymore.  It's expensive and completely redundant with the new Grand Cherokee.

I must be weird because I might actually consider a (used) GS were I actively looking for a TSX replacement.

As it stands though the depreciation on the TSX is like $100 a month at the moment. :o :o :o Can't say no to that.

GS and RL stand out for being the only cars from actually large-ish volume manufacturers on the list. And the Armada but hey....
Everything in life is relative.
