If SirO doesn't mind, let's turn this into an old race machines run again thread!!  Never tire of this old stuff.

That's cool SirO...thanks for posting.

Lots of folks bash NASCAR for being hicks-ville...here's a neat bit I'd never heard of - The Wood brothers, famous in NASCAR helped with Jimmy's 1965 win.  Ford asked the Woods to pit the car...and pit the car they did, saving a tonne of time.

If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

Mike Hailwood 1966 250cc 6 cylinder Honda race bike. I actually saw this bike run on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in a couple of demonstration laps in 1980 or so. (2nd or 3rd F1 race on the island) It was louder the the F1 cars!

18,000 rpm redline, not bad for 1966, 4 valves per cylinder too. They probably needed jewelers to work on this thing. Quite a few videos on Youtube, but the sound on this one seems better.

Another one at the Isle of Man, with the fairing...

Truly outstanding bike!

That is outstanding!

I'm diggin the sound of the RGV and TZ too!

Those front engined rails at Cracklefest are awesome. I really like the styling they did in those days.

Truly outstanding bike!

Agree!!!  The RC166 is one of the loudest bikes EVER!  The only bike I've heard nearly as loud was the Ducati 990cc MotoGP bike.   Enjoy these pics!!

^ It's like a scale model of a real engine!  ;D

Very impressive engineering.

Chaparral 2J "Sucker car"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWzUsW18k3c&feature=fvw

It used two stroke engines to extract air from beneath the skirts. On earlier trials, it developed enough downforce that it broke the rear suspension.

Yeah, as 1 of the comment on the Youtube page, with that sound you expect the car to arrive at 100 mph or so.  ;D
