glass cleaning

I need to clean the outside of the outlander's windscreen, get all the crap off as visibility in rain is terrible. What is best to use?

Invisible Glass works well inside and out.  After you thoroughly clean the glass...you might need new windshield wipers to keep them for fouling up the clean windshield again...

Also....a Rain-X application works pretty well for keeping the windscreen clear and rain free...

What is best to use?

You can use a clay bar to get all the grit off, then use a good glass cleaner.

Apply 1/3 cleaning vinegar and 2/3 warm water with a small squeegee. Try to work out of the direct sun and keep the windshield wet for a while then dry with newspaper which acts like a fine abrasive. Avoid touching other areas as the ink may transfer but will leave glass with a polished look. The previous owner of my car managed to scratch the outside of the windshield with a gritty snowball!

Vinegar is an acid & will etch your glass with repeated use. Do not use it. I work for a chemical manufacterer. Buy a good quality glass cleaner & wipe with a microfibre cloth.

I clean the exterior of my windshield with cream Vim cleaner. I wet windshield first then apply with a very wet rag. I am careful to avoid paint and trim. Cuts through all the road grime.

I rinse very very well then apply rain-x.

I do this a couple times a year. Been doing this for a few years now.

Windex should do it. I'd be careful with laundry/dish detergents as some are abrasive.

Any quality liquid or foaming glass cleaner should do the trick.

Consider following up with an application of Aquapel or Rain-X to help improve the repelling of water and visibility in rainy conditions. The major advantage with Aquapel is that it tends to last longer (i.e. 6 months) whereas the Rain-X typically requires re-application every month or so.

Invisible glass is awesome. Buy mine in the states usually, where it costs half what it does here :(
