There a chart at the bottom shown hybrid cabs are at 30% of the fleet in BC over 50% on the Vancover Island

On a related note, I have just read a comment on autoblog that all NYC taxis will have to be hybrid by 2012. Apparently, the vehicle of choice once the Crown Victoria is gone will be the Ford Transit Connect, which will be available in hybrid form in 2012.

Yeah, hybrid taxis are a common sight in Vancouver. I remember reading somewhere, maybe in Vancouver Sun, that the gas cost savings are around $400-500 a month, compared to a regular car.
