It doesn't look too bad to me Sir O, although I don't know quite what to make of it.

What's the schtick?  An AWD cabrio?  I would have liked to have sat in on the focus groups that thought this was a great idea.
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

I have two simultaneous responses in my head when I see it..

1) It looks pretty cool.

2) Why?

Still.. Nissan is on a role with with the unconventional right now. Maybe they are hoping that something will stick (Juke, Cube, Murrano Cabriolet, whatever weird thing they dream up next).

You don't need a 5000lb SUV to have an AWD cabrio.  Audi makes a few.... :P

The black background hides the typical Murano ride height. Without it it looks awkward, to my eyes anyway.

Yeah, cabrio CUV is kind of like a ball-peen screwdriver.

Ok Nissan, the quirky CUVs are not amusing anymore.  Give Chevy a call and ask them how their convertible experiment went.

It's probably going to be popular in California and Florida.

I thought this would be quite interesting as a 4 door, but the styling looked odd.

As a 2 door the styling works, but sure limits functionality.

Still, I kind of dig it.

Personally, I see it as an update on the old Chevy Blazer where the roof sections came off.

Not the intent of what I wrote at all. I think ALL manufacturers should try new things. This particular thing, I don't get. YMMV.

That's an interesting perspective. I can see that.

My comment wasn't directed to anyone in particular, which is why I didn't 'quote' anyone. My comment was directly to everyone at large who dislike this vehicle because they don't see the point. If carmakers only came out with vehicles that everyone sees the point, we would have missed out on a bunch of 'different' vehicles... Element, Soul, Cube, CR-Z, Explorer SporTrac, original Insight, original Prius, New Beetle, Juke, the list goes on and on. Those are all 'different' vehicles that most people didn't get when they hit the market. After a little while, we got used to most of them and many people appreciated them for what they were. I firmly believe there's a place for quirky and different.

It looks a lot better than I thought it would, but then again most convertibles lookg good with the top down. Let's see what it looks like with the top up, Nissan.

LA 2010: Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet debuts with $46,390 price tag
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/17/nissan-murano-crosscabriolet-debuts-46-390-price-la-2010/#comments

Say what you will about cutting the roof off of a crossover. We're growing a CUV-sized soft spot for the 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. It's not that the vehicle is going to be snagging a design award any time soon – far from it. But there's something to be said for a company hitching up its britches and doing something completely off the wall.

And this, kids, is the definition of off the wall.

The five-seater convertible market in the U.S. is all but non-existent at the moment, leaving successful real estate agents across the country with nowhere to spend their hard-earned money. Fortunately, Nissan is at the 2010 LA Auto Show to answer the call with this machine. While we're a little sad to see that the CrossCabriolet isn't a four-door convertible as we'd hoped, we'll take the craziness where we can get it. Along with showing its crazy drop top for the first time in LA today, Nissan also announced its base price: $46,390 USD . If you thought it was ugly before, that probably didn't help. Follow the jump for Nissan's official press release.

Crossover with 2 doors, more weight, less rigidity and a mystery soft top that no one as seen yet ... for $50 000+.

I'm not really a fan of convertibles so I really don't see the appeal of this thing.

When I was younger, I thought the convertible Chevrolet Tracker was the coolest thing ever. 15 years later, Nissan comes up with a 'grown-up' version of the Tracker convertible, with almost double everything; power, space and price. I'll probably never own a CrossCabriolet because of the price, but it's definitely cool and I like that Nissan is taking chances and bringing different types of vehicles to market these days. Say what you want, but nobody's got a quirky lineup like Nissan does with its Zuke, Cube and now this CrossCabriolet.

This isn't bad because it's different. It's bad because it's the answer to a question NO ONE asked.
