Why are they bothering to test these trucks with only 2300lbs charges? Aren't these things meant to be hauling 5000lbs+? Let's see how these V6's fare when hauling a 7000lbs trailer.

Any truck regularly hauling 7000lbs is going to be diesel...

Sure, but then, why come out all high and proud about these V6's and proclaim that V8's are useless now? And aren't these V6's still rated to tow 6000lbs+?

Ecoboost V6 aside a NA V6 just won't have the low torque delivery for relaxed towing. Much in the same way my Ridgeline is rated to tow 5000 lbs. It will do it but it won't be a nice relaxed ride.  I bet the majority of half ton trucks don't do much serious towing. For the odd tow job they would be fine but I wouldn't want to tow big loads all the time with them.
