BMW reconsidering making an X7 SUV.
« on: November 10, 2010, 12:08:11 am »
http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/11/09/rumor-wsj-bmw-reconsidering-its-decision-to-cancel-a-new-large-suv-bmw-x7/

I think BMW is losing a big piece of the pie.
Around 20,000 units per year in the US is acheivable, and would be better than the 5000 units per year from the X6.

So they're looking for a GL fighter. Never thought those sold very well...

Question. Whatever happened to the R-class? I never see those anymore...

Still offered I believe. Never sold that well. There are a few BlueTec diesels around town here.

Ah. The R-Class reminded me of a fat, longer Pacifica.

Anyways, I always wondered why BMW never offered something similar to the GL...or Q7...or QX56...etc.

Indeed. Good question. Wagons $55k++ minivans don't sell I guess..

Fixed for accuracy.  ;D

For some reason, MB customers prefer spending $70,000+ for a 7 seater (that is less fuel efficient) instead of $55,000.  ;D
Maybe it is the "more expensive, more people will buy" rule.

I think it's more about the format than the price.  A big expensive SUV is more impressive at the country club than a smaller more practical wagon/minivan.

Vehicle: 2011 MB C300 4Matic (Tenorite Grey): Did I miss the Show 'n Shine thread or it on its way to the dealership?

GLs sell quite well here in Calgary. Amazingf since they are crazy expensive. A seven seat SUV (or van) is a must for many families with kids school aged. Our Land Rover LR3 regularly hauls 5 kids.
