Nice!  I have never run the pro circuit there either, I have only run FABI.  You seem to be going much quicker then I was in my WRX  :-[

Full track is where it is at, but Pro is okay too.  I do actually like Fabi but it kills brakes and you get bored rather fast.

Yeah, my brakes were smoking after only 3 hot laps.....that is also due to the stock WRX brakes not being great.

Don't use them so much, they only slow you down. :rofl2:

We ran full all morning, then switched to pro in the afternoon to appease the racers who wanted to practice the regular config for racing.
I could have taken turn 2 much faster, I was just getting used to it.

The engine sounds great, but I think there's something wrong with your steering wheel.

Nothing serious - a couple strips of double-sided tape at 9 and 3 should fix it nicely.  ;)  :)

Yeah, bad habits from autocrossin' where full lock is common, gotta move your hands.

But then again, SMP is kinda like autocrossing. ;D

Turn up your speakers.

I did. There is a faint metallic squeal in the audio track.

Any chance of mounting the camera on the dash the next time.

Always fun to watch those.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

I think perhaps the audio inputs are being saturated.  I might try putting something over the microphone grill on the camera next time and see if that helps.  It's either that or the solid mounting to my steel harness bar is transferring too much noise. The side windows are also down.

BTW, I'm using my little Pentax W60 point and shoot underwater camera for the video.

It is going to be tough on a P&S camera where the mic is stuck in behind a pinhole in the camera body. Try some foam sheet. That is what I used on the remote mic when I had it tucked behind the fairing of my motorcycle. It worked well.

Cool vid.  I notice you lean your head alot in the corners..bad habit, or weak neck? (the passenger beside you was not)

Also...not sure if this has been answered, but what gear did you make the recording with? GoPro?
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Must just be a bad habit  ;D  That's one of the reasons I mounted the camera so I could see the steering wheel and see what I was doing, which I don't notice while doing it.
I think a lot of it is my crappy stock seats with little lateral support, I have to lean and brace instead of just letting the seat hold me in. That and I'm too tall with a helmet and hit my head sitting straight.  Hopefully that will be solved next season, I just picked up a pair of Sparco Torino 2 seats.

As mentioned, the gear is simply a Pentax W60, handy little camera.  A friend got a GoPro but can't keep batteries in it, decent video though.

I know someone who tried the seatbelt tensioner thing, and said it held them in the seat as if it was a racing belt.  It uses the stock belt.  I forget WTF it was called, but it was cheap and worked very well.

**EDIT** Here it is: http://www.cg-lock.com/

Review: http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/articles/cg-lock

http://www.driversanonymous.co.uk/cs_cglock.asp

The effect is startling. Because your hips are held firmly in position there’s much less strain on your back and upper body. Instead of holding on, you’re in control. Because you’re not using the steering wheel to brace yourself, you can use it to steer the car. Instead of constantly re-adjusting your position and being distracted, you can concentrate on the road ahead. This not only makes spirited driving more pleasurable it also makes it less painful. Honestly, since using it I haven’t suffered from any driving aches and pains at all.

So, is the CG-Lock as good as a full harness? No. But pull it as tight as you can stand and it’s pretty damned close, and for a car where a full harness is a no-no, it’s as close as you’ll get.

Whatwever works for you and you are comfortable with. I've seen lots of winning F1 drivers tilt their head in the corners.

I think a lot of it is my crappy stock seats with little lateral support, I have to lean and brace instead of just letting the seat hold me in.

The instructor who took me around CMP in his 993 had deep bucket seats that you dropped into...no way you were moving in those, especially after strapping myself in the way I like. BTW, after that ride, you're right about "flat-six goodness". Damn impressive on street tires.

Bought a pair of these, they'll be going in this winter, also looking at a roll-bar installation.

Do they come with model specific seat rails or do you have to mod things?

They look similar to my Porsche hard back sport seats with a tad more lateral support.

Maybe from high cornering forces though?

Yeah, it's odd, bikers hold their heads level in corners but lean their bikes and bodies while in a car I tend to lean my head towards the inside of the curve.  I wonder if both are for the same reason, something to do with balance perhaps.
