I know Breitling has long been associated with aviation...I'm not a big fan though. Which is a good thing...as they're freak'n expensive.
I cringe when I see those Breitling ads with John Travolta. Even if I could afford one, I think I'd be too embarrassed to wear it.
My work watch is a Victorinox Infantry. It's got the date and a second hour hand for UTC, which is all I really need. I love the classic styling and simple, legible face. It cost a couple hundred bucks, which is the sweet spot for watches, IMO: enough that it has some heft and feels like a quality instrument, but not so much that I'm overly concerned about breaking or scratching it.
Which I suppose is similar to how I feel about the GTI: a solid car that's stylish but not flashy, does its job well and offers great value for money.
