we pick up our ET in about 3 weeks...we are turning our Focus back 4 months early (lease isn't up until late August)...it has 60k on it and the buyout is $7300...the car is loaded though (heated seats, A/C, power everything, moonroof, etc) aside from the fact it is a 5 speed manual...the problem with buying it out is no warranty, admin fee to purchase car (something like $250), it has to be certified (and possibly e-tested), and interest rates on used car loans are crap...while our payment is for a longer period of time on the ET, the monthly payment amount is about the same and we get a new car with 7 years of warranty.

What does your post have to do with Wing's Yaris ???

people were talking about the price of the Yaris at $7500...i was just commenting on what our "buyout" amount is...i would imagine the car will go to auction when i give it back, and it will likely go for less than that...i was surprised at how much that Yaris was still pulling in because they weren't very expensive brand new.

It's because they are known to be nearly bullet proof.  Reliable cars fetch decent money on the used car market.

A four door Yaris CE manual was $14995. Add to that $1000 for shipping, another $1000 each for air and auto, and you are up to $18k. Not exactly cheap.

yea, but Chris' isn't a four door with auto...it's a 2 door which is usually a little less.

Quote
Montreal, Quebec – The Automobile Protection Association (APA) is investigating reports of failing front suspension control arm bolts on the 2006 to 2010 Toyota Yaris, apparently caused by corrosion.

The APA said that symptoms reported by consumers include a thumping noise after braking or going over a bump. The bolt eventually fails, which can permit excessive free play in the front suspension. The cost of the repair ranges from $100 to as much as $1,700 if the vehicle needs two control arms.

The APA recommends that both front suspension control arm bolts be replaced and is requesting a warranty program or recall for the problem from Toyota Canada. The APA said that from what it has seen, owners are being billed for “this very unusual repair” because the bolts fail shortly after the third year and 60,000 km.

The APA is asking consumers to fill out an online form if they have experienced the problem, and is also asking Toyota service people who have additional information to prevent the problem or have a cheaper fix, to contact the association in confidence. For more information, visit APA.

Hmm thanks.  I'll check the bolts when I mount the winter tires.  I head a thump over a speed bump once and then tried to reproduce but couldn't so I ignored it.  How can this be $1700 for two control arms?  LOL what is it $200 + $1500 labour?

I wonder how the bolt "fails". Does it break?  I've never heard of bolts breaking and these things are pretty darn big.  Perhaps they come loose?  I'll check mine out.
