Please help choose winter tires for a minivan
« on: October 16, 2010, 01:13:14 pm »
Hello,

Which of the following would you recommend for Dodge Caravan?

General Altimax Arctic vs. Toyo Observe G-02 vs. Hankook W409 iPike vs. Bridgestone

The price difference for these installed is in $70 difference range, so I'm considering all of them. Most of the driving is in town (5 days a week) and occasionally (say once a month) 600km round trip on Highway 401 (ice could be an issue sometimes). I need to be able to drive in any weather. Our street sometimes doesn't get plowed until I need to leave for work.

Thanks for the advices in advance!

We have the General's on our van (studded, maybe can't be in your part of Ontario?) and they are fine.  There are times we don't get our street plowed for days, plus they work well on compact snow/ice.

I have Bridgestone® Blizzak™ WS60's on the Forester and they are also very good but were a lot more money than the General's.

Can't say about the others on your list.

Good luck!
