2011 Kawasaki ZX-10 puts out 210hp!

Wet weight is 198kg, while the engine cranks out 210hp! Traction control and anti-lock brakes are available.

I expected the Japanese makes to respond to BMW, but holy crap!

just read a blurb on it somewhere . kawasaki has always being king in the hp wars of decades past . whenever some one would trump them their company pride would always kick in to try and regain their title . i see it still exist even today.
i only owned 2 kaws , one of which was one of the most fun bikes i had ever owned , i used to slam that tank so hard yelling " way to go baby ! " boy ,could that thing handle

Impressive is the greater than 1:1 power/weight ratio.

As for styling, I still think the new(er) Japanese sportbikes are way over done.

Not all of it, however, he rents out Toronto motorsports park 1-2 times per month and 80% of his bikes mileage are track miles.   Here's a pic of the S1000RR and the R1 LE (buddy on the BMW, I'm on the R1).

I don't know how much of a motorcyclist you are, but how did you like the cross-plane crank R1?  I haven't had the opportunity to track one, but have ridden it.  Just wondering of your impression on a track compared to the old engined R1.

I LOVE the flat plane crank engine, mostly for the sound.   Down low, IMO it has a nice almost Vtwin like rumble, very strong mid range, and a strong upper end (but truth be told I expected more).   It is the most 'Ferrari like' sound available on a bike, when being wound out in the top end.   Last gen ZX10's are as fast, and '05-06 GSX-R 1000's are faster.  As for the BMW S1000RR...uh, it's like it is from another planet...it totally walks over everything.   The sound of the 'no-lift-shift' sounds awsome down the straights....BWAP, BWAP, BWAP between shifts....mmmm me likes.    It's got the traction control (which the purists loathe), but you can jump on the power so early and let the electrons take care of keeping the back tire under your @$$ and your bike out of the weeds.   From a riding posture, I didn't like the 2010 R1 very much.   My @$$ felt so high in the air it was like I was playing Twister.  In short, I wouldn't personally spend my cash on the 2010 R1.   I'd much rather head over to the local Honda store, or pick up a spotless 2000R1, wich IMO is one of the most desireable bikes ever made (or RC51 :)

rrocket, what were your impressions of the R1's flat plane crank engine?   How did you find the riding position?

You are referring to the legalities. I would be referring to the vast majority of riders.
