Jaguar C-X75 - Now THOSE are roatary engines!

I might consider this EV from Jaguar...and I may need a multi-engine rating.

It's an EV of 100 km, with 2 micro-turbines (small jet engines man!) giving range extension to 900 km (so says Jag).  Wonder what 80,000 rpms sound like?!   :o

Well that is completely different.  I am too lazy to research/read.  Does this car take regular gas (or jet fuel)?  What kind of comsumption does 80 000rpm produce?

Pretty much anything.  In this case, natural gas, biofuel.

Consumption?  Not sure...I'd be more interested to know about the emissions.

The turbines drive a generator. That Jag is an electric car.  So the whole thing is a Volt with Lucas electrics.  Hmmmmmm,  one wonders if GM have a secret Volt using this... seriously.

Emissions:   Whatever the products of combustion are of   gasoline , kerosene, diesel, nat gas, hydrogen , farts, biogas etc. burnt in air I guess .  :skid:

I suppose the power upgrade would come from Pratt & Whitney?  That would need a hood scoop for sure.

I rather like this idea.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Top Gun are you certified for jet propulsion ?  You can probably ignore multi as you can hide the 2nd turbine in. the glove compartment.

I wonder what a scale model B52 would be like to build with several of those engines... on 2nd thoughts maybe something like a Phanton 'cos you'd only need 2 and I suspect they are expensive
