Increase car alarm range???
« on: September 22, 2010, 11:12:50 pm »
I bought and installed a cheap alarm for extra protection aganst people who may want to steal my sterio set up. All I had to do was hook up siren + - to battery aand a shock cencer. It works well but remote rang isn't very far. The siren has two extra wires a white one and a orangeish one. I'm guessing those or one of them are antenas. The instruction manual says nothing about these wires. I would like to know if it's possible to extend the range or if I could hook it up to radio antena. Please help. Thanx

Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear) found out that if you hold the keyfob against your head and press the button to unlock/turn off the alarm, it increases the range. This video is firewalled at work so I'm assuming it's valid and it's the right one:

Still, take it with a huge pinch of salt!!!   ;D
