2005 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner, double cab, 2wd
« on: September 13, 2010, 09:12:00 pm »
anyone own one of these in Canada

I have one.  bought in new in 2005.   so far so good, 69000 km.   not the greatest in winters but switched to Dunlop RVXT's last year and we didn't get much snow in s.ontario so can't really say if they improved the traction.  running them all year.

how's everyone else doing with the similar truck.  any upcoming issues to be concerned with.

i should mention, in any tacoma are you getting a water sloshing sound coming out of the front of the dash area (probably other side of the firewall) ?

not sure what it is, mentioned it to the dealer and they say they've never heard of such a thing.

Sloshing?  :o  Leaky windshield?  Leaky heater core?

Your best bet is to visit a Tacoma-specific forum such as Tacomaworld.com.

frame rust - so far so good.  i got the truck in august of 2005 and have had it oil sprayed by my mechanic every year before each winter.

touch wood, the frame's still looking good.

have had my 2003 matrix oiled since purchased as well and again, everything looks solid.... so far.

he does such a good job of oiling that the vehicles are still dripping oil in the fall when they're getting re-done.

Pay no attention to him. To him if it's not a GM it is junk.

I've enjoyed my 2005 Tacoma. It gets 10.2 km/l and all I've ever done is changed the oil and topped up the windshield washer so far in addition to replacing the wipers once. Differential oil is on the schedule next though. My son uses his 2007 off road one day every two weeks and the rear quarter panels are falling off of it. Seems that the composite box isn't strong enough to hold it all together. I hear that this is common on all plastic box Tacomas.
Have you ever met anyone who would admit to being less than a better than average driver?
