Wow, that's some welcome back post!

Everything about the new Z seems improved, and love the swept-back low slung look. Even the price reposition down came somewhat as a surprise to me - good value for a true performance car. And it's not something you see coming and going, either.

Enjoy!

It's funny, when the 370Z first was introduced, I was really lukewarm on the styling compared to its predecessor.  Now, after seeing them for several months, I like them so much more (and the 350 just looks dated to me).  I've heard such wonderful things about how much fun it is to drive that I'm keen to take one out for a rip.  I'm just worried I'd like it too much (and without a backseat, it's off limits).  :(

Congrats -- outstanding colour and trim level choice!

Two other questions for you though:

1)  You mentioned the rear vis is bad -- worse than the Miata with the top up?
2)  Not sure I understand your concern about the DRLs?  What's wrong with having lights on?

Excellent choice!  I would be driving one of these if I didn't need a backseat and useable trunk.

Congrats!

thanks

1) yes, it's worse than a 2nd gen Miata. You are looking out of a slit and the blind spot is wider. But in the end, you get used to it. There is definitely a price to pay for that cool looking roofline.

2) The front HID lights are on full power. All the cockpit switch inside does is turn on the interior dash lights.  They basically just wired on the exterior lights permanently. Seems like a
waste of Energy to have all the lights on at full power.

The styling is awesome, and the only change I'd make personally is to lose the door handles and integrate them into the dark pillar somehow, but that's all I can find to pick at.

I agree. At least they toned down the style of the handle from the 350Z. And my white colour makes it stand out less as well.

When it comes time for tires, check out the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas.  Even my 315 series steamrollers were quiet and could hook up my Supra's power with ease....

You know they make a turbo for this car, eh??  :)

Mmmmmm....turbo.

Thanks for the tip about the Vredestein.....will check it out

Congrats. Great looking car.

"-   Steering is sensitive in the center, coupled with the wide  groove-following tires means the car will wander into the next lane if you let up your attention even one instant."

Are the RE050As Runflats? My Z4 had that issue with some Kumho RFTs but since swapping those out it has gone away. However, my tires are only 225 wide.

Nope, they aren't runflats. Straight line stability is pretty good as long as the road is level, but even the slightest side-to-side grade, the car will wander into the next lane.

My wife isn't much of a car nut, but even she said, "Isn't that the car with the beautiful exhaust note" when I pointed out a 370Z the other day.  She *is* a music teacher so knows a musical sound when she hears it.  Nice wheels.

Wow, very nice!

I've driven the 350Z before and I loved it except, oddly enough, it wasn't quite as fast as I expected it to be. The 370 surely addresses that issue.

And I agree with GD - I didn't originally like the 370's styling but now I prefer it to the old styling.

Excellent choice, and you got the right transmission  ;)
